[0:20] Chris: Hello everyone and welcome to Superhero Slate, the show where we run down the latest superhero entertainment news.
[0:27] Mike: We love TV, movies, Sega Game Gears, and superheroes. Let's talk it all out.
[0:32] Chris: My name is Chris.
[0:35] Mike: And my name is Mike, who already opened up his Zero Sugar AW Root Beer.
[0:40] Chris: Oh man. I was I've been saving this. This is this is one of those Mountain Dew Zero trolley Mango pineapple punches. just wait waiting for you. But this week we got Avengers Secret Wars Dreamcasting. I don't know if it's true or not. It might be rumors, but we'll talk about everybody who might be in this upcoming movie. Spider-Man's clones come to Amazon.
[1:03] Mike: I forgot that I saw that headline earlier this week, so now we will rectify whatever this is on the show.
[1:09] Chris: Yep, yep. the Batsuit rides a police bike. And I say Batsuit because I don't think it's Batman in this batsuit. But we'll talk about our photos on today's episode and more covering today's episode.
[1:20] Mike: Yes, I demand I I demanded Chris get this recording going right away because sometimes Chris and I have pre -show conversations that I feel like need to be committed to the internet. So I was like, let's get the tape rolling. Let Chris know my thoughts. And I have a strong feeling I've brought this up on the show again. But just like any podcast that has run nearly six hundred episodes. Sometimes you're gonna get repeat opinions. So bear with me. Chris just got back from Disney World and he was mentioning how they might not go next year and use those funds to kind of indulge in a new mattress. I have mattress thoughts
[1:54] Mike: Because we were we were chatting and I don't know if people know this, but a king-size mattress is eighty inches by seventy-six inches. And if that doesn't frustrate you, it should. Because it's so frustratingly close to being a perfect square. I do not understand why it never was.
[2:12] Chris: Well, do you know what they call the
[2:15] Mike: Chris? I hear you typing it. I already got the I already got the chart up. I'm I'm ready to go.
[2:20] Chris: Well well I've typing I already know the answer to this a as well because like I well I worked in furniture for several years and bed sizes always came up because when I was working on building their website, they were always like, well, we need to list all the different sizes. And I'm like, okay. And then I would get some that are like Like twin slash twin or twin slash full. And I'm like, why are you giving me two mattress sizes? They're they're bunk beds is what what happened. So I always had a a little a little graphic next to me when I was working, whenever I was building the sizes to
[2:57] Chris: Figure out what sizes I needed for this.
[2:59] Mike: Is it stick is it stick figures laying on blue mattresses with white pillows under their head?
[3:05] Chris: It was not. It was mostly just a bunch of different size squares
[3:10] Mike: That's the one I'm looking at right now.
[3:11] Chris: With with names okay, so so what do you got? What do you got for me there?
[3:14] Mike: Well with all that being considered, now you're probably saying, Mike, okay, we get it. The king size mattress isn't square. Get a California King. if you don't know this, the California King is only bigger long ways and it actually gets more narrow. So instead of eighty by seventy six It goes eighty-four by seventy-two. So actually they are taking the inches off the width and adding it to the length. So I think it ends up being I'm not doing the math right now, but maybe it's the same like square footage or square inches. Or whatever. Either way, it doesn't solve the problem because the freedom that that you unlock with a square mattress, you now have
[3:51] Mike: Four dimensions in which you can rotate your mattress. And if your mattress is the type that flips, eight different dimensions. We are we are blowing we are blowing past the preconceived notions of mattresses. Because the more you rotate it, the less you're likely to get pitting, the more likely you can ride this mattress maybe into your grave, depending on how old you are So like Chris was saying, he was alluding to, there are mattresses at R Square. I don't think I've literally ever seen them in a mattress store. So I don't know if you have to like specially seek them out or like special order them when you find the mattress you like.
[4:22] Chris: Yeah, this is like one of the most bullshit American things ever, because obviously we have twin, full, queen, king. K we got the royalty out of the way. And then if you want to go bigger than a king, guess what? You get a California king. Or you get a Texas king. But the square ones aren't even those. A Wyoming King and an Alaskan King are the two square mattresses. and Wyoming King Wyoming King is always stuck in my head Because it's this it's a Wyoming King is your 84 by 84. Like you can't get an 80 by 80 in here. Like you're not getting a king square, which is short sky of like two inches. But like it's weird that you have to go to eighty-four by eighty four inches.
[5:01] Chris: But
[5:03] Mike: But also why
[5:04] Chris: Go ahead.
[5:05] Mike: Wyoming King also sounds like like a terr Taylor Sheridan like Paramount Plus show. and the next size up also cements that same this would be like the sequel to that show.
[5:15] Chris: Yeah. Tol Tulsa King, right? The Tulsa Yeah I got a Tulsa King bed. no, I'm kidding. But like yeah, square we've been talking about mattresses and then the thing I've seen, one of my clients that works at the furniture store and what I've seen lately is what's called a split king. which is a king bed split in in twain, if you will. but it is like slightly slightly wider, I guess, than it's the same width as a twin, but taller. So you get a twin bed and you got just get a little bit longer for your feeties, 'cause you don't want you don't want your your feet sticking out over the bed, Mike, because the monster under the bed will get them obviously.
[5:54] Chris: But I you know it's one of those things is like you know I sleep I sleep really warm. I don't know about that my my wife does not. it's like I will be sweating and I'm like I gotta I gotta move away from body heat because I will murder something at this. but I but I I've been looking at those, but like yeah, we we talked about matchers. But Disney World, round two in one year. That's a new for us. We've never gone twice in a year Mike Mike saw some of my merch I got. The ratio of Muppet merch to non-muppet merch, Mike, pretty pretty high this time around.
[6:29] Chris: I we also did the not so scary Halloween party, which is not so scary, and if you don't have kids, it's kind of whelming. Because they turn a lot of the rides into or not rides, a lot of the experiences into trick-or-treating things, and you're just waiting in line with a bunch of other people to get Free candy sponsored by Mars.
[6:51] Mike: It really feels it really feels like counter programming if you're like a scardy cat and you know there's always a universal studio is like stones throw away from like a Disney park that's just like snipping at the heels. So I feel like they specialize in like we're gonna scare the crap out of you and then it's just like oh no we're gonna go to Disney so I don't so I don't have nightmares.
[7:11] Chris: Yeah, absolutely. And then we also did the Food and Wine Festival, which is a first for us as well because we never go in the fall. that was really fun to you know walk and snack around around the world. the one of my one of the hardest things about this, I need to Like when you're so like I've been prepping for Disney World, you know this I've been walking quite a bit to like that way like I don't get there and I'm just dead on day one because I you know, I work at a desk all day. with that comes the fact I've like, you know, watch been watching what I eat with that, but like I need to like really
[7:41] Chris: Like start bulking up to eat a lot again because I felt like I was like I was full by the time I had like one or two bites. I'm like Yeah, this is fine, but I'm like I gotta really plan to eat a lot next time I go to the Food and Wine Festival. Like I'm not I'm not built for that just yet.
[7:55] Mike: Yeah, you gotta leverage that, That food and beverage pass. you gotta maximalize it because you're paying for it. So you gotta get all the eats.
[8:03] Chris: It's not a pass food and wine's not a pass. It's just
[8:05] Mike: You can't you can get a you can get a pass. Okay. Well we did not have a round to boost anything. Yeah, but you could indulge without it. That's it. Yeah,
[8:13] Chris: We we got the little bracelet things that we just like loaded a card with extra money for it and went around. The there the mup there's a Muppet thing there as well in Epcot. The the f it's some sort of fun lab and all like you would have loved this mic. All they do is like pickle stuff. So I had buffalo deep fried pickles. and they they could have been like buffalo sauce as well. And then like dill pickle range on top of it. I know it was pretty good. They had a pickle milkshake that I did not partake in because it was way too early for me to be rolling
[8:47] Chris: The dice with that son of a gun that that early in the day. but no it was a good time. Had had we had a good time. It was it was like not too hot. It was a little warm but not like not not like a hundred and fifteen the summer. It was just an absolute whirlwind of a day. I didn't build a lightsaber, but I will say the smuggler's run ride. Yeah, the new one, the Millennium Falcon.
[9:10] Mike: Do you you have the update?
[9:11] Chris: Yeah, we have the update. We gotta do all all the six rides on that. We actually just walked onto the ride. I was telling Mike how low the wait times were for everything. We literally just walked into this aluminum falcon ride. and r and wrote it. So
[9:23] Mike: We might as well make this the first bullet point of the show because I feel like this is the first time in a while where we've both We both ridden a theme park ride at the same time that's been like slightly updated. because I also rode the new smugglers run with Mando and Grogu a a couple weeks back. And if you've never ridden the original version of the Millennium Falcon ride out there, listeners, less less than thrilling. If you're not the driver,
[9:49] Chris: If you're not the driver, it sucks. Like in the original one did
[9:53] Mike: I do not understand the decision to face all of the buttons to perpendicular to the rider when all you want to be doing is looking forward because that's where all the magical 3D Glassless, glasses less. You don't need glasses to see the re but why are you making me look at this panel the whole time? so that doesn't get fixed at all in this version, but at least now if you're stuck in the back and you're an engineer, you can at least see Grogu on your little monitor. And then they give the engineers get to choose where you get to go, like the lotion, which was super awesome. I don't know what seat you were taking on, Chris, but I was an engineer and I was like, oh, we're going
[10:32] Mike: Did we go to Coruscant? I think I picked Coruscant because I was like, oh, this is I feel like this will be a really cool like locale to fly through. and then was I think well the was the pod was pod racing on there or am I confusing that with star tours? Star tour
[10:47] Chris: You're gonna do that with star tours the because you're trying to get the crates, right? Like So you're like the whole point is to get the crates and the engineers are the ones track doing the tracking of the crates as well by like the the maglev. My wife and I were both gunners and the the people in front were the the drivers and we had an older couple in the back but they still were able to do the engineer stuff because like before what when you do is then you just sit there and be like I'm watching the screen and forget to press a button but like So we did the gunners and we we actually were able to get all the crew through, so that was really fun.
[11:19] Chris: Yeah, it's just it's such a such a fun Fun little update like that makes everything thing. I wish you still I agree with you. I wish it was more watching forward where like maybe the button was on the seat in front of you rather than on the side of it but like
[11:32] Mike: Or just like bring the console out and rotate it at kind of like a forty-five degree angle. Like I I feel like I almost see stuff like that like on like the Enterprise like Star Trek ships, you know? Like just jut it out a little bit. Like a panel that's just above me. did you I know you're a Fortnite person. Did you do the Fortnite?
[11:53] Chris: Yeah, I because I normally you wait in line at Disney, which I'm used to. We didn't wait in line, so I'm like trying to log in and get the the the the app near everything. Because I I told I told you this, like We meet my wife and I we have we don't have the magic band pluses. We have the old magic bands that don't have screens we don't have to charge them. But every time we were near something, it knew where we were. and I assume it's the mobile app and mixing with like Probably like just like low frequency NFC screen.
[12:29] Mike: Around the park, just like everywhere. And I think they use them for various reasons. I'm sure like like maintenance and like engineering and like real engineers, not like a Theme Ark guest riding a playing pretending to be an engineer. Like I think they use those as like nodes for different things, but yeah, I think they repurpose them for other things.
[12:49] Chris: Because like it's one of those things like How does how do the rides know I'm on them? Like to get my photo, right? Because I don't scan anything to get on the ride in the in the standby line, but somehow it knows where I ride it.
[13:02] Mike: I I don't know if you happen to see them 'cause I don't know if they're just out here on the West Coast or if they made it to Disneyland. They have like these new little animatronic dolls that you can get called Batu buddies.
[13:13] Chris: Okay.
[13:13] Mike: They have like a little a little Grogu, a little like job of the hut, and like an a little ewok. And they have like those L they have like an LED screen for the eyes, so they like blink and in the emote. And they also react to where you are around Galaxy's Edge. So if like you go near like the Millennium Falcon, they'll make noises and stuff like that but those are cute. I I wouldn't buy them, but I think they're cute.
[13:37] Chris: Yeah, I didn't see them. but I also wasn't looking like again, like I said, it was just one of those things where we were able to kind of get around pretty quick, but like Yeah, I was I was overall overall impressed with the the experience and like I said the smugglers run was a was a good time. We were able to we didn't get to do the other Star Wars ride because it was one of those broken down moments for it. that's right. Well again we were we were we were there. We were it was a busy day. It was a very, very busy three days. Like We g we landed before eight AM
[14:07] Chris: And were in the parks before nine A. M. of a plane that we got up at like four AM for earlier than that because we had to be at the airport by then, but like I was like, this is just a long day overall. but we're all pretty good pretty good time ahead of good time. I think in in in retrospect, if I ever go when I go back, not if. When I go back, it'll be a fall. I think there's nothing in the spring that's themed and overlaid, but the fall Halloween stuff is absolutely great. And there's not a lot of people there. So that was a a big plus for us on that.
[14:40] Chris: But then I had to come back and look at all the news I'd missed because I wasn't using my phone to look at all the comic book and superhero and Spooky news. This is a universal property, but we're gonna talk about here, and that's the Mummy 4. Mike, we get our first look at Brendan Fraser filming on the Mummy Four. he looks to be I think he got out of like a little little speeder like retro futuristic car. he's got that Rick Rick O'Connor look to him. Like yeah it looks like he there nothing against Brandon Fraser, but it looks like he lost a lot of weight to play this role. Like he put in the work to return his
[15:14] Mike: Yeah. I think this is gonna be very interesting because, and this is not like a slight to Brendan Fajer Frazier, he exited Hollywood for a really long time and he just just aged traditionally like a normal person. That's not under the Hollywood lens, you know, not pressured for things like like Botox or facelifts or whatever. He just aged like a normal human Like we all should be. And but then he had this amazing return of the spotlight and he played all of these roles where he didn't have to be like this traditional like on screen like hunk.
[15:49] Chris: Yeah.
[15:49] Mike: So and like so I'm really curious to see how he returns to the character that basically was like, you would imagine kind of traditionally, more of maybe like a like maybe like a Bradley Cooper type to maybe return to that role at that age or a oh why can't I think of his name? I can only think of his his movie quote where he goes, All right, all right, all right.
[16:14] Chris: Matthew McConnell
[16:15] Mike: Nazi McConaughey, that's like those are kind of maybe more of the traditionally aged male actors that you would think would be in this type of like later action hero role. But I kind of love that it's Brendan Frazier because it's gonna make it feel unique. It's not just gonna feel like one of these other like revival sequels that we've just been like fed for like decades. So I'm excited for this.
[16:37] Chris: Yeah and Well the thing is I think as well, like I I am excited for it, I do understand I'm putting an asterisk beside because I I don't I don't love legacy sequels Right? We've talked about that. Like, you know, how should you should you even come back to the mummy after this ro far? the mummy three didn't do well. They tried to reboot with even Tom Cruise. It didn't work. They just did what was the Oh, that small independent studio. It's not A25.
[17:03] Mike: Oh, was it like was it Neon or Blumhouse?
[17:06] Chris: Blumhouse. It's a Blumhouse one. So like they they just did that, like You know, the mummy is a property that's been on the he's even met Abbott and Costello, right? Like this is how far back we could go with the mummy. But I I am interested to see what this is. Brandon Fraser's returning is what Rachel Vice is returning as Evelyn, and so on and so forth. So I'm I'm excited to see this return, but like at the same time I'm gonna put a big ask like this is a legacy movie. This is gonna feel a lot like probably the more modern Indiana Jones where you have older actors doing action scenes
[17:36] Chris: So It's gonna look a little out of place because there's probably stunt doubles or CGI in place of where they're gonna be. but you know, I again I will absolutely open my arms and embrace it. Hopefully it's fun, it's a good time and I don't think about that stuff because but like I am drawing a very strong parallel to the most more recent two Indiana Jones movies where they're like, you probably shouldn't have gone back. to that that stuff along the way. But yeah, first look here, looks great. Looks like he's having a good time and you know maybe Maybe we'll see him pick up some more leading main action roles later if he wants to.
[18:11] Chris: If he if he wants to to keep it up after this. maybe he could return for Jurassic World 5, even though he was never in the other ones. Jurassic World 5, I guess Jurassic World Rebirth 2. is where we are. J. A. Bayona who directed Fallen Kingdom, which is that the is that the second or third one? Fallen
[18:35] Mike: Kingdom was oh god, yeah, it's two seconds.
[18:40] Chris: I think it's two. It's twenty eighteen.
[18:41] Mike: Okay.
[18:43] Chris: He directed that one and he's in talks to pick it this one up from Gareth Edwards, who left Jurassic World Rebirth sequel. so Fallen Kingdom, I always forget how much money these movies make. 1. 3 billion dollars worldwide in 2018 So obviously he knows how to make a Jurassic Park movie that brings in money, even though he's probably just there directing what everyone else tells him to do. These movies are starting to feel a lot like Transformers. Really getting close to Transformers franchise territory here. I'm not excited about this at all. Mike, are you? What do you think?
[19:20] Mike: No, no, not all. They're they they need to do something different. They gotta come at it from a different angle. It's just or just hire somebody competent or you know literally anything. I feel like I'm coming up with so many ideas that are just not what they're doing right now. Go mid-budget. Go Five low budget movies.
[19:42] Chris: Go wild Jurassic City, right? We talked about that Jurassic City idea f several years now. get get wild with it. I mean, th I know the end of Oak Street, you know, took dinosaurs in an entirely different direction. I know that's more you know, not supernatural, but like even different type of sci-fi. But like I love Jurassic Park. I love the m the the magic of dinosaurs, not necessarily like that they're just out to to eat you and it's all about genetically engineering them. Like do something simple to your point.
[20:13] Mike: Yeah. I know we I know we haven't talked about Star Wars. In a minute on the show. We've been kind of waiting for some more like Starfighter news or something. But you know, maybe sometimes movie franchises in general just don't have the legs to last in perpetuity forever, right? Maybe at some point you just have to restart it over because you just can't perpetually build off the same you know, I guess quote unquote old relative term movie. Like Jurassic Park, the first movie, amazing, flawless, probably one of the best movies of all time, made in the nineties. It's been 30 over 30 years.
[20:56] Chris: Yeah, I think. Yeah.
[20:58] Mike: How long do they anticipate they can keep this one timeline going? Right? Like really, like truly Like when my child is thirty years old and the franchise has been around for like sixty years, like, are they really expecting like teenagers in the nineteen fifties to like or like in the twenty fifties to like go back in time and do their homework and watch Jurassic Park from the nineties so they can understand this whole thread. This is basically my big way of saying at some point these big gigantic franchises are just gonna need to restart over From square one, just so there's an entry point for like new generations, and maybe that can fix what's going on with Jurassic Park.
[21:38] Chris: And I would say The biggest thing for me is like even then what was it Jurassic World was even like a soft reboot, if you will. It's like hey We we know you might have seen the other one, but like you c we can pick up here. Rebirth doesn't feel like that soft reboot. It feels like a continuation of Jurassic World, right? Obviously. I think it's called Jurassic World Rebirth anyway. but like it it needs like if they did they could even do an I think to your point a soft reboot as well. Like you know Maybe it's like even if they call it Jurassic Park and it's like an om like another
[22:16] Chris: Mod, but like, hey, this guy had this crazy idea, you know, fifty years ago. Let's trust try it again. because the world's forgotten about it kind of deal. There's a lot to that. I think they could do timeline stuff, but I d I think to to your point if they just keep pushing this like We're gonna keep blending dinosaur DNA to make new dinosaurs and make it real weird. kind of like that one that had what was the one was the one last time that had like the four or the six arms? Look at it.
[22:44] Mike: Yeah. It had like the something the D the D Rex, I think is what they call it, maybe. Yeah, the distort
[22:52] Chris: Distortus rex. Yeah, so Like again, I think I think we both agree. Just get a new get a new hook on it. Maybe maybe they find Nat maybe Maybe they find naturally occurring dinosaurs somewhere. Like, oh we got a frozen one and it's not anything we thought it was. And they have to restart you know the whole thing. So I d I don't know. Like there's maybe there's a lot they could do, but like quit doing the same thing.
[23:17] Mike: Yeah, I'm surprised they haven't pulled the trigger on the the two kids from the first movie, like them grown up as adults. It feels like the story almost writes themselves, like you don't even really need to build a backstory for them. Like they grew up fans of dinosaurs and then they were almost murdered by them. I feel like you can really build a story off of that. And they haven't done it yet.
[23:38] Chris: The one guy from the last one who was in Wicked Wicked movies. He he looked like Tim. He could be a grown-up Tim version, but but they didn't want to lean into that. But like I agree with you. Like, you know, we've got you know we've lost Sam Neil this year. You know, we've got Jeff Goldblum and Laura Dernstall, they're like, but like they don't need to come back. Like to your point, like hand the next generation down something and kind of let them go with that. So I agree. I agree with all that. but let's let's go back to a franchise that is obviously working, like G. I. Joe.
[24:10] Chris: And I say that sarcastically because G. I. Joe has not worked in a very long time. in any way, shape, or form. But In the upcoming movie written by Danny McBride, they they've got Bradley Cooper now starring as Duke in this movie. You mentioned Bradley Cooper earlier. You must have been looking at our show notes. But I doubt that because you never look at our show notes. even while we're here. Because you said we haven't talked about Star Wars at all. We talked about Star Wars last week, so I know you also don't remember the shows we talk about either, but that's fine. That's neither here nor there. but Bradley Cooper will be Duke in the upcoming reboot from Danny McBride.
[24:44] Chris: And this is not the Transformers Crossover G. I. Joe movie because that is no longer in development. So This feels like a weird thing to come back to, to be completely honest. G. I. Joe is such a dated property, and I I get the fondness of it, but like no new people understand this property.
[25:04] Mike: Yeah. This is basically the same conversation we had before He-Man, right? Yeah. of like who I I would maybe like to say that since G. I. Joe is somewhat more rooted in reality and like cool ra military, maybe it can connect more than like the really strong sci-fi of He-Man, but still they're old Old, old properties meant to sell toys. I mean, I love Danny McBride. He's hilarious. He's a great director too on the Righteous Gemstones when he did that stuff over on HBO. But also, I thought the He-Man movie was also really good and effectively done on screen, but that doesn't mean it translates to anything successful so you know
[25:53] Chris: The only thing with
[25:54] Mike: Bradley Cooper
[25:55] Chris: Yeah
[25:56] Mike: I would be more interested in seeing Bradley Cooper voicing Duke the dog from the Bush's Beans commercial. Let's let's build out the Bush's Beans cinematic universe.
[26:04] Chris: I don't think they're gonna do that, no mat no matter what you try. No one's buying baked beans from commercials anymore. Mike, that's a that's a
[26:10] Mike: It was Airbud, man. Let's re let's let con the the origin of Viduke the dog and let's say he was Airbud. How about you do
[26:17] Chris: How about you do a a an Airbud legacy sequel, but he has to spend his time doing being commercials instead of playing basketball.
[26:25] Mike: Great corporate synergy. We get bushes to pay for like half of the budget on the movie? I mean, come on.
[26:30] Chris: And come to find out it's a backdoor sequel into Space Jam three.
[26:40] Mike: Nobody gives a crap about it anyway, so we might as well just do the whole thing with like AI. It'll cost like fifty thousand dollars to make the movie. All we have to do is make fifty one thousand dollars, you know, and we're we're in the green. Exactly. Or in the black, however you want to say it.
[26:53] Chris: Yeah, we're we're in some shade of color. but I think the biggest draw for this would be probably be Bradley Cooper. Like right he's a good actor. G. I. Joe is also known for its big cast list, so they could probably do that. And that's really about it. Like I mean like we have Call of Duty movie coming out next year, two years from now, right? they're doing extraction three, which again Chris Hemsworth was originally tied to this, so he's probably just like this is just extraction again. because like, you know, how do you how do you deal with a world full of cobra th these days? Like, you know,
[27:29] Chris: I don't even know where to begin. Like he-man leaned into that that campiness. I hopefully they lean into some of that campiness here. But I don't know enough about G. I. Joe to care other than I will always remember those stupid suits from the first live action movie in like what 07 -08 with Channing Tatum and one of the Wayne's brothers running across the world in those high-fast supersuits running away from tracking missiles I think So wild. Amazon is getting real weird with their Spider-Man stuff. Sony and them are moving forward with an adaptation of the clone saga from Spider-Man. words I never thought I'd say in the same sentence
[28:10] Chris: Out loud here, but obviously with the success of Spider-Noir, And Sony and Amazon wanting to deal with more not Peter Parker spider people. This is another opportunity for them to do it. details say Yes, it will follow the clones log of it. Expect significant changes to the source material. Number one, no Peter Parker. And I actually put this in the wrong point. But the main leads will be Ben Riley and Kane Parker. Ben Riley, obviously, we know from Spider-Noir, but this will be a different version of Ben Riley. and Kane Parker, which was technically the first clone of Peter Parker, but very unstable. and the plot here, Mike, is
[28:54] Chris: They discover they're they're clones, which leads to the show's main plot. So I don't know if they're working together, they're working against each other, they find each other, I don't know how. in comic books, both of these have been Scarlet Spider at some point, so they'll probably wear that blue one of them will wear that blue hoodie, with the cutoff sleeves. But This is the most batshit crazy thing I've heard in a long time. I probably said that about Spider-Noir, but like at least Nick Cage voiced the character. I we don't even have like a basis for this to go on other than a really Like cool concept comic that like really, you know, shit the bed
[29:29] Chris: After like a year into it. So
[29:32] Mike: Honestly, Chris, I'm surprised to be saying this right now, because if you just look at the track record of any Spider-Man project that we've talked about outside of theatrical release, it's been like thumbs down, why are we doing this? This weirdly kind of interests me, and I think it's because maybe it's it it can solve maybe two problems that we've yet to approach in the Spider-Man universe. of number one, we haven't really had like an episodic story of like a like a real Spider-Man, right? You know, newars just that's kind of like the one-off like experimental, extreme genre. It was really only meant to be like one season, right? So we're only exploring it so much.
[30:14] Mike: And you're not really exploring Spider-Man, really. You're exploring like Nick Cage noir happens to have Spider-Man powers really. So this kind of gives you the opportunity to like explore maybe a little bit deeper in live action. and also Chris, do you do you think truly, even if like Marvel had full custody over Spider-Man Do you think we would ever get a proper clone saga? Well, okay,
[30:43] Chris: Before we deal, let's let's define clone saga because like I said, it went over like 10 years in the comic books. Are you talking like a Ben Riley, like exact clone of Peter Parker coming in to play here?
[30:53] Mike: It doesn't have to it doesn't have to be exact, but just this idea. of having like a triple A superhero be cloned and having that clone out in the world.
[31:04] Chris: I would love I think that would be awesome because they haven't done it yet.
[31:09] Mike: I agree, but do you but do you c I just feel like it's never it would never make it to the big screen. It feels like maybe too abstract of an idea for like a broad like tent whole summer movie.
[31:22] Chris: I don't think so. I I think I mean I really I really don't I think if we've Star Wars has given us the Clone Wars, I think this is a I again the the idea is that I I don't think it's a bad idea at all. I I I actually would probably disagree and say like I think that's probably a better idea. than what we have gotten on some of these things. But like at the same time, how deep do you want how how deep do you go in a clone sog is a different story. because I don't think you're gonna get Ben Riley and Kane Parker and all the other ones along that happened that
[31:52] Chris: Stance along the way and all like the the failed ones who became like people they gotta go take care of and all that yeah, I think it won't never get as deep as this.
[32:00] Mike: I mean it it does feel like Sony slash Amazon finally gets to have their cakey eat it too, where they get to make a Spider-Man show with a Spider-Man in it, right? And also The the like you were saying, Chris, the scarlet spider in that kind of like red suit with the blue hoodie, the one of the coolest variants of the Spider-Man costume out there, right? You know, Spider-Man's like main costume. You know, it has a lot of variations and then you can go symbiote, right? But like the hoodie is like such a vibe. It's like the coolest I I Cosplayed it for Comic Con like a long, long time ago. It's such a cool look.
[32:40] Mike: So like I'm sure the marketing par department is so stoked. Like they cannot wait. to get image assets of that Scarlet Spider and put it like on everything. Like we are gonna get this out there in front of people's eyeballs and they finally get to see this character.
[32:54] Chris: Yeah, it means it's on Prime. It well it's also so cool but like even the MCU tried to riff on it, right, in the first Homecoming movie is like one of the initial Spider-Man outfits. Like people see that and they know, oh, that's Spider-Man from from the 90s. And I think this is fun. I have seen a lot of people kind of take this and and do like the lanterns thing where it's just c it's called spiders and it's like two two spider people who had to work together to figure out some big secret behind everything.
[33:21] Mike: I d I I wasn't thinking about it but like That does sound awesome. The season finale of lanterns or possibly series finale of lanterns is tonight. Yep. And now I'm just imagining just like throw the throw the green ring away and it's just like Spider-Man suits. I'm like
[33:36] Chris: Yeah.
[33:37] Mike: Yes, please.
[33:38] Chris: Right. You have two two guys who and and again they're clones. It maybe that maybe it's one actor playing both. Maybe it's two because clones can look different, right? Like they don't have to look the same. But like you know,
[33:49] Mike: I think I mean I guess I it's been a minute since I've looked at a panel. From the clone saga.
[33:55] Chris: I get expect significant changes. They're gonna take some liberties here. So
[33:59] Mike: Yeah, maybe they just give him like different hair in the comic books and that, or they just Thing is you can just draw somebody like the same way but different and it's kind of can be the same.
[34:08] Chris: You know what? You know what I just realized? Superman last year had clones in it of Superman.
[34:17] Mike: Yeah. And we that was kind of like the one of the pet peeves we have with the movie, right? Yeah.
[34:21] Chris: Well they're just gonna give one of them longer hair. is is what they're gonna do. same power set. But anyway, yeah, this is this is wild. I dunno, we probably we're probably still two years out before we see anything on this. but you know obviously they they have found a way to Make Spider-Man properties that are not necessarily the villains as as anti-heroes here. So
[34:43] Mike: I'm glad you caught that Superman thing. Yeah. Somebody was yelling at us or something.
[34:47] Chris: Yeah, I there's a comment somewhere and now they're gonna be like, ah they got it. So I expect the first text to be like Superman last year and then be like, oh never mind you said that. So but anyway, so yeah, there's that moving on, s Sky Dance is the new big player in Hollywood, Mike. This is the you know, we're one big one big fish he's another bigger fish, he's eat another bigger fish. This is the Paramount. Warner Brothers Discovery Final Merger that's supposed to finish next week will be called Skydance. The question that's related to us is that yes, James Gunn and Peter Saffron are slated to remain as DC Studios
[35:27] Chris: Co-CEOs through at least their 2027 contract, which would be they'll probably keep 'em until May of tomorrow's. out if I don't expect them to change by any means, but if they plan on changing that would be after Man of Tomorrow next year. But boy I just love corporate capitalism. Just just love these big companies merging together.
[35:51] Mike: Chris, I loved your analogy when you started the topic of it's like a fish eating another fish eating another fish. This is typically how you get fish restrictions on tuna because there's too much mercury in it and you shouldn't be eating it that often because the the mercury just builds up from fish to fish to fish to fish. So I feel like there's gonna be too much merc mercury at at this mega studio and it's going to poison and kill everybody. I I mean, we could go we could talk on and on and on about how, you know corporate acquisitions and mergers. But I specifically just wanted to talk about that they have stated that this is going to be called Sky Dance.
[36:32] Mike: So like it is this just rest in peace the name Warner Brothers in Paramount? I mean I don't I could really care less about this.
[36:40] Chris: They'll probably have subsidiaries under these names because like I again w when you look at like large company billing, like we talked about what was it when Warner Brothers was trying to get rid of Discovery, they were putting all the debt onto Discovery or something to get rid of it. Yeah, they'll probably keep the names around for a while. But like no one I just tell someone but like no one knows what the fuck a Skydance is. Why would you keep the newest most vain name when Warner Brothers has been around like a hundred plus years. So
[37:08] Mike: It's almost like it's n owned by an totally vain Nepo baby. I'm trying to find like an equivalent like of like this of the naming situation because obviously we have like Comcast, NBC Universal, and I think actually they might even be in the process of like offloading one of those. But those are like those are like media like conglomerate, but it's like different types of, right? Like you you would never go to a movie theater and like see an NBC movie, right? So it's not like you're picking and choosing, but it's almost like if this new company like Skydance like if they make an a movie, like I'm thinking of movies that like iconically have like the Warner Brothers logo in front of it and I always think like the Matrix.
[37:50] Mike: For some reason, let's just say they yeah, let's just say they they reboot the matrix, right? And it comes out to theaters. Like, what's the logo in front of the matrix? Because it's like, well, it could be Paramount. It could be Warner Brothers. It could be Skydance. Like w like it doesn't it's almost like when you're watching a show, funny enough, on the probably soon to be gobbled up and disappeared HBO Max of just like I'm watching a new show and it's just like, oh, is this an HBO show? Is this an HBO Max show? Like, does it even make a difference anymore? It kind of similar to a lesser extent, same thing over at like Disney.
[38:24] Mike: Like, am I watching a Disney Plus original or I'm watching like a Hulu original? It's all so doesn't make sense.
[38:30] Chris: I'll tell you right now, nobody gives a shit, Mike. Nobody's looking at those logos. I don't even I don't even look at those logos. I don't even look at those logos. Like I I you know I was like I was sitting there like, what was of the Matrix? Well it was Warner Brothers, wasn't it? but like
[38:42] Mike: It's like it's like we'll never see that sepia toned Warner Brothers lot
[38:48] Mike: Intro anymore where it looks like it's like 120 degrees outside and like melting.
[38:53] Chris: I dis I I disagree. I think hopefully my my my hope is that this will all fall apart or they'll gut Warner Brothers and sell it off and then they'll come back again. Like, right, like, you know, a perpetual cycle of like, you know, the equity of Warner Brothers, the equity of Paramount. Because like Paramount obviously is at the big peak of a mountain, right? Like, you know, and Yo, Universal has the world thing that goes around like they do have those things, but I think they're not gone forever. I think they will eventually either assign them this. Like, you know how what was under Disney was it Fox is now what twentieth Century Studios
[39:23] Chris: Is what it's called. But they kept like the the the fanfare with the lights on 'em for that. So hopefully they do something like that. But I I could also see them just being they're really gonna shit the bat on this one. to use that phrase twice today I think is that you know they're g they're gonna butcher something it'll something will happen, something will go under the the Middle East that's funding this will pull is something or other and we'll go back to where we're selling these properties rather than
[39:54] Mike: I mean I do have a hot take. If I if I had to remove the names of the studios from any sort of like legacy and just look at them from like the word itself detached from everything Skydance is a cool name, but but beyond that, i it it's not doing anything for me. So if I just had to give it credit on like do I like the words Warner Brothers, Paramount, or Sky Dance more? I think Skydance sounds cooler. But in this scenario, it sounds crazy to pick that one.
[40:24] Chris: What's Spielberg's company's name? is it Dream Merch? Well the one the one I also think I'm thinking of DreamWorks. Skydance and Dreamworks merge in my mind because I'm like, I don't know what a Skydance is, but I do remember the moon with the confission off of it. kind of thing. So I yeah, so I I yes, if we were to take it, yeah, the name's fine, but this is just an awful, awful experience that I wish didn't come true. Here we are. Let's talk about the Batman, another upcoming Skydance property, Mike. Part two. We have Batman, or at least a stunt actor, in the Batman suit on a police motorcycle. I love this rig, by the way.
[41:02] Chris: This filming rig full of pipe and like joints that looks like it could like be in like a you know, one of those Windows ninety five screensavers around this motorcycle. This looks cool as shit, how they're filming this guy. riding a motorcycle for for this upcoming movie. And it I think like the Batman suit, which looks like it has like is that some armor on like the
[41:23] Mike: Yeah, something going on there. This feels like it's gotta be a a stunt double, right? I don't think they the insurance would cover Robert Pattinson. the box office marvel this year on top of a police bike like this. But yeah, like everything looks this looks badass. Like, come on, like If I was twelve years old, give me that action figure.
[41:43] Chris: Yeah, I I I like the suit. It's shiny. I I enjoy the red light. it looks like it's like the flashing, supposed to give the flashing police light. this is a professional. That bike's probably like very again right side heavy. but they got that camera on there. very very cool. I know there were some scenes earlier this year where like the Batman batmobile crashes and flips over, I think. So maybe he escapes from that and steals one of these bikes or someone else maybe had stole the Batmobile. Maybe he wasn't in it when it crashed, so he's trying to catch up on a police bike. But I this is this is pretty fun.
[42:15] Chris: I'm I don't know what else to expect from this movie, but we'll we'll see whenever it eventually comes out in twenty twenty-eight for us. On the flip side, last week we talked about Dynamic Duo, the upcoming cross-hybrid puppet movie from DC Studios. actor Logan Kim, who's vo pla voicing Jason Todd has said the movie is not related to DCU films, and he will not reprise his role in live-action movies. So this kinda goes not against James Gunn says, but like this movie tells me like, yeah, this isn't gonna be part of the DCU with you know Dick Grayson. and Jason Todd. like this is literally just them making a movie that's fun and has a different story.
[42:56] Chris: We're not gonna get Steve Bashimi as Red Hood one. Or and Lee Pace's Red Hood 2 in the live action movie. So
[43:05] Mike: That would have been so cool. It feels weird though, because like you said, this is the antithesis of how they launched this whole new DC universe, right? Of you know, I I could think differently maybe if this was like an HBO like series or something like that. You know, but like Or like if it was with a different studio, right? You know, we can imagine Spider-Verse because it's, you know, it's a different company making it. And it's a different visual medium. but It is kind of weird that this is not gonna ladder up. I mean I'm still happy for it and I think it'll be cool. I mean maybe the aesthetic of it of this like experimental animation
[43:42] Mike: Style We'll be like we'll be fine with it, right? It'll look like so cool and awesome and there'll be this own little universe that we won't care. We'll just want more coming these puppets.
[43:50] Chris: Well it's more like Spider-Verse. Like, you know, we talked about like they want it to be their Spider-Verses like Spider-Verse. We don't assume anything in there's like related to Spider-Man proper in the MCU. So I I can see them working on that. Like you like said it's visually distinct. It's got a good enough story. maybe it's probably gonna be zany enough that it's like couldn't really be in the DCU either, right? so yeah, I'm excited for that. or also could be one of those things where like They've not talked about future projects and they didn't sign these kids or anyone else for a long time. But maybe when the movie comes out and it's said and done, they're like, you know what?
[44:22] Chris: We do want to use you. Here's a new contract. would you like to join us? So either way, we won't know till it comes out. And I know we've got a a little bit of time for this movie that they're they're working on. I would love to see. This is like one of those films I want to watch the behind-the-scenes special features on. Like how the hell did they make this? I look forward to the VFX Arctic's react to when this comes out, when they do a whole episode based on this this movie and how they merged live action and visual effects together. Mr. Miracle, the animated series, which will have its actors
[44:54] Chris: Replies to roles in live action, has rumoredly cast its two main act two main people, Big Barta and Scott Free. Jamila Jamil, who was in She-Hulk, and Justice Smith, who's in Detective Pikachu, are rumored to be cast as who I said, Big Bart and Scott Free in the upcoming animated show. Nathan Fillion will also reprise his role as Guy Gardner, making this the Nathan Fillian verse over over the there.
[45:23] Mike: I mean I do I do love I love all these actors so this is great. I was a I was a fan of creature commandos Feel like it's been a while since I've been able to dip my toes back in the animated universe, so I'd like to do that again soon. So hopefully it We can around it.
[45:42] Chris: I think you'll have season two of maybe creature commandos first and then this, but like yeah, like this is interesting because this is going to do that thing I wish Supergirl did where it expands the cosmic side of the universe, right? Where's like the new gods and all the other things if guide gardeners out in space that'll show us a green lantern out doing stuff. So kind of excited to see how this like like you said, see this p this one pay off. on the sad news of of Daredevil born again being canceled, rumors are Charlie Cox will return. as Matt Murdoch or Daredevil and other MCU products after his show is wrapped up.
[46:17] Chris: So sounds like they're not going to be giving us a new Daredevil after Secret Wars. But maybe he pops up as cameos or a co-player in some of those things. He was already in Spider-Man No Way Home as Matt Murdoch and She-Hulk as at least Daredevil, if not both Matt Murdoch in there. I don't remember. Exactly.
[46:37] Mike: Yeah. Yeah, it really makes me wonder how we've brought this up on the show at nauseum before. What does post-secret wars look like? Right. From the hero and villain side of things, you know, you know, some will die, some will continue on because there's still box office draws, right? But I always think about the lonely normal people in the universes, you know, that have the nine to five jobs, that are in the background watching their parked car get flipped over by the Hulk while they're getting like a coffee. do these people retainies existing within a battle world, you know? what all of the other in the universe which is really You might be saying, Mike, why are you so hung up on like the normal humans of the world?
[47:24] Mike: And it's like, well, I'm a normal human of the world. And also, if there's no normal humans, what's the point of a hero? Because they're supposed to be there to save. people and stop the world from getting blown up. So this is my long-winded way of saying like, well maybe Charlie Cox's Daredevil is going to be a hero. That continues on maybe with his memories intact of the events of Doomsday and Secret Wars.
[47:46] Chris: Well he's gonna have his memory of Defenders first, which he doesn't have, so I I I
[47:51] Mike: Yeah, he's gonna be like, it's weird how I remember everything that happened in the box office success of Doomsday and Secret Wars, but forgot everything that happened from my past at Netflix.
[48:01] Chris: Yeah. yeah, I I mean I think he I I I have nothing against Charlie Clax. I don't think we need to recast Daredevil, but like again, actors, you know, they're not gonna wait around forever to to be in things. They get a pick and choose. We always assume oh they weren't asked. Well maybe they said no as well. So
[48:17] Mike: I was watching the comedy Adults, which is a Hulu series, which is pretty funny if you're if you're into that kind of stuff. And Charlie Cox has like a recurring role, I think, on like two episodes, and he's he's really funny in it. And it's just like, oh yeah. Charlie Cox is just a good actor. He doesn't have to just be Daredevil forever. He could just go do other stuff and I would like him and other things
[48:39] Chris: Yeah, yeah. I I mean I met him. He's a real guy. He's he's a cool guy. yeah, he he likes his his favorite burger, I think, was Whataburger, so but anyway, yeah, I I think it's fine. Like again, i if he he shows up, but I don't think we need another Daredevil show. We don't need a third Daredevil series. to to talk about him. I don't even think we need another if he did a movie, he has to be with other people. Again, you know, I I'm gonna reiterate your your point last week. How often can you fight the The the kingpin as as daredevil. Before you're just like you got other people out here to do things, so
[49:14] Chris: You know pick one of those, but we'll see with that. Mike, let's talk Avengers Secret Wars. I know Doomsday is coming up soon, but let's talk a little bit about Secret Wars. So first and foremost, the first rumor that's popped up this week that I saw the most of Is that filming will not start until January 2027. It was supposed to start rumoredly September, October of 2026 this year, but the several people, scoopers, they've they've said Now it's October, now it's November, now it's December, now it's January, whatever. If it's filmed starts filming principal photography, and I will use the word principal photography in January 2027. Do you think they will delay this movie from a December 2027
[49:53] Chris: Release date?
[49:56] Mike: This would be an insane turnaround, right? Especially for a movie of this. scale, but it seems like there's so many caveats that you could put on this. Like you could say, well, this is Marvel, this is the MCU, this is a proven kind of system of making movies, maybe they can just pull like a huge movie out in just like eight to ten months and have it ready for December. You could say we've all seen the behind the scenes of Endgame, right? Where they started pre-visualizing that final fight well before I think principal photography happened. So There's a could be a chunk of this movie already done without even turning a camera on, right? So you could say that caveat
[50:41] Mike: Too. also
[50:44] Chris: They could have filmed they could have filmed stuff during Doomsday, just with that. So they could have run into the biggest. Exactly. Yeah. Al
[50:51] Mike: Also to maybe throw a little bit of shade at the Russo brothers, I think there was some news reports that they were struggling getting the the third act together on Doomsday of like maybe trying to get it written and ready to go like during production when they were filming the movie. So I don't like I don't like them having less than a year to get it out if they don't have it figured out. But also, I'll go back to the previous caveat. These two movies are supposed to be part one and part two. They might not have it in their titles, but Yeah. Maybe Secret Wars has already figured out, you know.
[51:27] Chris: Well, I would also say I don't again the Rooster brothers are only directors, they are not the writers of this, so I I do think the writing is done and if they're changing it, they're changing something that's probably mostly done and been approved. Like you can you again we've talked about this They they say they they start they start without a finished script. That's that's not true. They start without the finalized script, right? Like I think that's what the the phrase would be because You can't have billions of dollars, you know, or millions of dollars, multi-millions to hundreds of millions of dollars thrown in a movie without having something in there. Like even Disney and Marvel wouldn't be like, yeah, we've got like, you know
[52:01] Chris: Yeah, twelve percent of a script on and then start it. They would literally have to see start to finish like they know what the beats are and then maybe there's tweaking it along the way. and and not finalized. So I think the exaggeration that there's nothing there and the Rooster brothers are changing it is different than I think the writers doing it. But I also think to the point, like, is this movie we'll talk about the people involved below for the rumors, like, is this movie going to be a lot of actors interacting with stunt doubles models, you know, second unit, third unit, fourth unit directors getting individual scenes for people.
[52:39] Chris: Or have they already got a lot of it done and we just don't know yet? and no one's been able to pinpoint it. So I I don't think they would delay it. And the only reason I don't think they're gonna delay this mic is because you need that one year break is good. Daredevil season three is the only thing coming out next year. And that would be if they delayed this and that's the only thing coming out in 2027, it would just take the wind out of the sails, I think, for the anticipation. So I hope they don't delay it. Again, we don't know what's in the rooms. We don't know what's going on. Principal photography versus like second
[53:10] Chris: Unit photography is also different. So they could be filming stuff without you know, the main unit that's actually needing to be there. So until we know I'm gonna say it's not delayed, but well you know, check check us again in three months and see if we're right or wrong. When the the New Year's here. the other thing is the plot details have been rumored to be that the main protagonists will be a group of rebels who have been separated and are searching for something across Doom's domains. So it sounds like Probably pretty close to Infinity War. Like the groups are trying to gather something to take Doom down, but we don't know what it is yet.
[53:45] Chris: Like some multiple MacGuffins, and we'll see different variations of different worlds or like, you know, the Hulk city or you know country and then you know a classic Marvel City and then maybe like Marvel 1302 or whatever it is. So I think that's fine. I I don't know. Doomsday's not even here yet. We don't even know how it ends. so the plot's probably gonna be something close.
[54:11] Mike: Yeah, I mean I my guess would be if if we're supposed to be battle worlding this like the most recent secret wars, I would think the search would be maybe for people, right? Of like, well, if doom is like this emperor or whatever, this new world and we want to fix it, well, you gotta take down Doom at some point in time, right? So you gotta re you gotta Avengers reassemble. That's what we're doing. We're reassembling. That's the tagline on the poster there right now. Secret Wars reassemble. I called it. Where do I put my polymarket bet down?
[54:41] Chris: And I I would also say there's probably like some sort of weakness. Like again, it's not infinity stones. but like it's gotta be some sort of item that either like will cause Doom's weakness or like give them a break because if they it was just a sibling, they probably would have done that the first time in Doomsday. he seems to be fairly strong. They give us that shot in the poster where he can stop, you know, Stormbreaker, which tells us obviously he's the strongest person in on the movie because that's how you level that out. So they gotta be looking for something, maybe someone you know, with with knowledge or a a secret along the way who's maybe been in hiding even from Doom.
[55:16] Chris: So I don't know, this is this is gonna be interesting, so we'll have to see what that is. But the cast rumors is where I'm gonna get into this, and this is a big list of of casts that Yeah, don't bear with me. It was a photo shared by a semi-reliable scooper. So this is the people that were on the poster. So we have Spider-Man Toby Maguire. We have Eric Banas the Hulk from 2003. The original Fantastic Four from 2007, which we've seen Chris Evans return to recently in Deadpool Wolverine, Blade is Wesley Snipes, Jubilee, Quicksilver, Cyclops, Gene Grey, and Psilock from X-Men Apocalypse. Quicksilver from Wandavision, which is the same actor from X-Men Apocalypse, but they showed him twice in there.
[55:59] Chris: The X-Men 2 cast, including the Brotherhood of Mutants, it's a Brotherhood Mutants, Brotherhood of Mutants, and Lady Deathstrike. specifically we're on the image. The Defenders from Netflix's show, Ghost Rider Robbie Reyes from Agents of Shield, the Guardians of the Galaxy returning. the the classic team of it the Avengers as of the latest MCU so the team of the Avengers and then a white suited superior Iron Man This seems like a lot of people. Like this seems like a toy again a toy box fell over from the past 30 years of somebody and they're like smash them together. Do something
[56:34] Mike: Well, I mean if I have to think of it from an Infinity War endgame point of view, if we're trying to recapture a big battle, we need a lot of things to fight.
[56:44] Chris: Yeah.
[56:44] Mike: So if Thanos isn't there with his like outriders anymore, is that what he called them, right? The outriders?
[56:50] Chris: The outriders, yeah. The little faceless army. Yeah.
[56:53] Mike: Yeah, like if I mean unless Doom's got like a bunch of like Doom bots or something like that, which I feel like m he could
[57:01] Chris: Well what if what if he had some people turn like again on his side? Like they're like no Doom is doing the right thing. Like I maybe it's not all the ev like there are people on his side.
[57:10] Mike: Yeah. Or like mind control or something. It just feels like, well, what do we do differently here than just m a lot of heroes fighting a bunch of goons? It would be like a bunch of heroes fighting a bunch of heroes, right? That could be interesting. You know, maybe they're all vying for whatever the MacGuffin is because at some point you have to reset this world either back to normal or a new normal. And e even even these people in the movie know who aren't who are just fictional movie characters have to realize that like, oh, we're not gonna reset the world and multiple versions of the Fantastic Four are just gonna exist on it, right?
[57:47] Mike: There's only gonna be room for like one type of each
[57:50] Chris: Well even then they're they're probably more like I know I have the best way to get it done, but like I I think the other thing with this is this is to me the swan song for everything that's come before us. if we don't get a Howard the Duck reference in this, like the original Howard the Duck, I will be disappointed but like this is going to be the sun setting of all the quote unquote fractured Marvel properties beforehand, right? And going forward, hopefully, like we said, it's one kind of cleaned up thing, but like, you know, we're not getting rid of watching the original X-Men from the two thousands and two thousand three, but like, you know, we're not gonna have a a different X-Men movie going on.
[58:30] Chris: Alongside Marvel's X-Men movie. So this seems like maybe a a good way to sunset a lot of these characters we've not seen in a while the only MCU thing I would love to see, which that will probably not happen, is I would love to see one more Edward Norton appearance in the MCU. I I did just watch this movie as a Hulk of the day. He played a great Bruce Banner. I would love to see that. sunset here if they can, but
[58:55] Mike: Great way to update any multiple Hulks.
[58:57] Chris: Multiple Hulks.
[58:58] Mike: Badass.
[58:59] Chris: Yeah. we have an arm we have what is that we have an army, I have a Hulk. Well I have an army of Hulks, so that'd be that'd be pretty fun. But to get to Secret Wars, we gotta get through Doomsday, and to get through Doomsday, we gotta get through marketing. So now we got a new poster from Doomsday showing Doom and three Witches, Latvarian witches. And I will tell you that this is an official poster from Marvel. there's something unique about this poster, Mike. do you know what that is?
[59:27] Mike: What is unique about this poster? I was just at it in it. I didn't see anything. They end out. I mean is it something with like the stained glass in the background? Is it like making a
[59:39] Chris: Nope. I'll shape I'll give you a hint, I'll actually tell you what it is. So at San Diego Comic Con we got our first v Lat Varian Witches wardrobes, right? they were purple, green, and yellow. There was no red Latvarian witch. This poster has a very red Latvarian witch standing in the middle. leaning into people, you know, obviously they're like, oh it's red, it's gotta be Scarlet Witch. It doesn't have to be Scarlet Witch We don't know what he's got. And why would Doom have Scarlet Witch if he's trying to go help other people? He would just solve his problems from his world. But regardless.
[1:00:13] Mike: I guess I just have to wait and go see the movie to find out. But I don't know. I'm getting the feeling that these witches are either gonna amount to nothing. at all, or at least maybe nothing in Doomsday. Maybe we have to wait around.
[1:00:29] Chris: Yeah, we we couldn't get the big we didn't want to spend our money on all the casting. for the first movie, so we put them in masks. yeah absolutely I again I don't know what they're gonna be if anything. They are leaning in pretty heavily into some of the stuff. there was some Screen X previews shown of the trailers. you're familiar with screen X with the extra panels on the side? And they're like, oh, there's some witches kneeling in the like a scene. Like it wasn't like fully detailed because they're just kind of stretched out, but I'm like, okay. But this red one's very interesting. Again, the internet's rumor
[1:00:57] Chris: Mill is is churning out those scarlet witch things but the color knowing what we saw at Sandy of Comic Con and this being a very different color is intriguing at least least to me, but until then we gotta wait till till that's it. Also, literally I don't have it linked here, but as soon as we got off the the recording last week that silence your phone promo was on youtube so marvel did officially release it after they heard our us on the show they're listening right now live and wanted us to to to to know that they put on YouTube for us, Mike. So we can check out that later. Last bit of news, Vision Quests.
[1:01:35] Chris: Are you excited for Vision Quests? I'm excited for Vision Quests.
[1:01:39] Mike: So excited. I watched that final trailer that dropped recently. Looks so badass. Paul Bettney has a line that's I've forgot exactly what it is, but it's kind of alluding to that like Maybe vision doesn't make it out of this alive. which I think is might be kind of a cool sacrifice 'cause it seems like they're really building up like this like f father-son dynamic. So it I I kind of like to imagine this world in which his two sons, like you know, him and Wanda's sons, like continue on within the MCU with the legacy of their parents who were just like relatively good people. Yeah. You know, until someone was like
[1:02:19] Mike: Poisoned by an evil book.
[1:02:21] Chris: Well at the same time well, I mean Scarlet Wish started off as a villain, if you remember in Civil War. or not Civil War, Age of they were both they'd be in Age of Walt Trump, but they're both like They got their powers from the same stone and they were just come to accidents all along the way. But yeah. so just so ever knows on October 14th, coming up a week from this coming Wednesday, we'll have a double Episode debut, so episodes one and two on October 14th. That's they're both the shortest episode is 45 minutes and the other the first one's 50 days. So this is like a full feature-length movie
[1:02:53] Chris: To start this this off mic, which I think is
[1:02:56] Mike: Awesome. These are long episode runs too. Like these are meaty if I had to compare again, these are lanterns length episodes.
[1:03:06] Chris: Yeah, and this also sets as you mentioned, you can see here it sets the record for the longest episodes of an MC live action series. with an hour and eight minutes being the longest episode here, the finale, and is the longest one so episode ever done in the MC live action. So they are definitely put some time into this story, which is the end of a trilogy, as I said that started with Wanda. Vision. So pretty excited for that. This will get us through, you know, at least seven weeks, maybe six weeks if they have another double episode, but I doubt it. But that'll get us through the the end of fall and right into winter, right before doomsday
[1:03:38] Chris: Do you think there will be a post-credit thing at the end of the show kicking off Doomsday? Like teasing into Doomsday at all? I mean
[1:03:46] Mike: It feels it feels like it would be good synergy.
[1:03:48] Chris: Yeah.
[1:03:49] Mike: I guess I guess we wait and see. You know, I I feel like I'm the type of person that would maybe not count on Vision Quest to be like a big draw, right? You know, I feel like, you know, Vision has really never captured the fascination of like the general public. But also like lanterns, if I had to talk about them yet again, has been so good and so popular and the viewer base has grown and grown week after week after week. You know, maybe VisionQuest does the same thing. And it would be like, Oh, we have so many people tuning in for episode eight. Yeah, we might as well t tease doomsday a little bit.
[1:04:26] Chris: Yeah, and well and I yeah they they could I think if I don't have my calendar pulled up here but that would put us in if we go to month one Two three four five six seven. Yeah, so it'd be the end of December, before December. So November 25th, right before Thanksgiving. they can absolutely do that with a little teaser. And honestly, you know, maybe they don't need a teaser, but I think vision being again something who was killed in end game and Hopefully he doesn't get killed again before the next Avengers movie, Mike. he he gets offed twice between Avengers movies. thrice if you count Wanda
[1:05:07] Chris: Killing the the dream version of him. But it'd be interesting. But I I I hopefully they do something with it. It'd be fun. But at the same time it's a T V show. If they don't, yeah, no big deal not not gonna not sweat off my back. I mean, they did give us a tease at the end of Wonder Man and then they canceled that promptly. So All those teases don't always amount to something. But yeah, that'll be coming out here in a couple weeks and we'll talk about it as we go. Speaking of lanterns, next week we'll talk about the series of lanterns, right, Mike? Since it'll be wrapped up season one,
[1:05:37] Chris: Possibly series. anything else for me? Call it a day here.
[1:05:42] Mike: I think we did a great job, Chris. I'm gonna pat myself on the back, and you can pat yourself on the back, and then we're gonna hop onto that Wyoming king together and take an
[1:05:50] Chris: In. Hell yeah. With our with that s broken Spider-Man TV I sent Mike today off. Literally so Spider-Man TV we've talked about this for so long. Someone's like here here's a destroyed version and It looks good on the front, but everything else about that looks real rough.
[1:06:04] Mike: Doesn't even work and they want like four hundred dollars for this thing. It's in They're delusional.
[1:06:09] Chris: No remote. The remote would make that worth the price alone. I would reprogram that remote, but like if I can't get the remote, I'm not doing it. But
[1:06:16] Mike: Chris, I think we need to saturate the market with fakes. I think we need to use your 3D printer. We'll use my artistic
[1:06:24] Chris: You're good with Blender. I'm not good with Blender that can make 3D models. So
[1:06:28] Mike: Yeah, w we just need to saturate the market with like 3D printed shells for other CRTs, drive down the price, and then we buy the real thing.
[1:06:38] Chris: I again I've I've toyed with the idea of 3D printing shells, so you're not you're not wrong with that. before we wrap it up, my my current obsession right now is projection mapping, as Mike knows, in my house. because prime days are this week. So I before I even got I got a little projector for doing stuff around the house and I'm like, can I project a map on things? So now I'm doing I just got a very like a translucent shower curtain for the front window of my house so I can project from the back and it looks like something's happening from the outside of it. So
[1:07:08] Mike: Ooh, like spooky ghosts for Halloween?
[1:07:10] Chris: Yeah we did Madame Leota the floating head from
[1:07:13] Mike: Oh fun.
[1:07:14] Chris: From the haunted mansion yesterday. I've got some sp spooky stuff, maybe some fun stuff. I thought talking about the doing Christmas things with it. Like seeing kind of what that looks like. But also like I'm not gonna outside projection map my house because I number one I don't have the money to buy that kind of projector right now. I need to get my lights back up, but like It is fun to like see like Mike saw me projection map literally the castle from Disney onto the Lego castle from Disney. like they do. So little little things like that. But anyway, Mike, if people want to know what you're up to, what you're doing, where can they find you at
[1:07:45] Mike: Oh, they can read my webcomics at pickledcomics. com and life rewardsrisk. com. Chris, people want to catch up with you. Where can they find ya
